Frequently Asked Questions

Materials

Granite

  1. What is granite? Granite is a natural rock, formed many millions of years ago through a process of solidification.
  2. What are the contents of granite? It generally contains Quartz, feltspar and mica.
  3. How rigid is the colour and structure? The colour and structure will always vary slightly from any samples provided as it is a unique natural material. We advise to always reserve material with ourselves if you are intending to add tables or backsplashes, by ordering at the same time as the worktop, to prevent differences in colour and structure.
  4. How hard is granite? Most of the used materials contain quartz. This means it is not possible to scratch it with normal use. For instance, you cannot scratch it with a knife.
  5. How durable is granite when in use in a kitchen? It is scratch resistant and it is very heat resistant, although it is not advised to place a hot pan directly on the worktop. This could create a thermo-shock which could result in a hair line crack appearing. We advise to always use a pan-rack.
  6. What finishes is Granite available in? Polished, honed or flamed.
  7. What advantages has granite to other surfaces? It is always unique, exclusive, scratch resistant, durable and very beautiful.
